Help shape the future of UK Scouting!

21 December 2013
On Saturday 1 February 2014, we will be holding an event in central London to give 14-25 year olds an opportunity to shape how Scouting will look in 2018.

This event is part of a project called Be…  which has been running since the beginning of November 2013. Be… aims to encourage young people to have their say on four key areas of Scouting’s future:

•    Growing Scouting

•    Making sure Scouting is shaped by young people in partnership with adults

•    Making sure Scouting is diverse and inclusive

•    Making sure Scouting is making a difference in our communities

Over the last two months, there have been a number of different ways for young people to comment on how they want Scouting to look in 2018.  There have been sessions running at youth forums across the UK, a survey and the be.scouts.org.uk website was set up to share ideas.

At the event we will be running workshops on the four key areas outlined above and together looking at all the ideas and opinions collected so far. There will be two sessions running on the 1 February:

10am-12.30pm for 18-25 year olds

1.30pm-4pm for 14-17 year olds

Lunch will be provided for both groups, and travel costs to and from the event will be reimbursed. As the session will only last for half a day, participants will be free to spend the rest of the day exploring London.

If you would be interested in attending the event, please fill in the online application form by Sunday 12 January 2014. Due to the limited number of places available, participants will be selected based on their response to the questions included in the application. Successful applicants will be informed by email, along with further information about the event.
